52CCT - February Stash Challenge / Markers

I haven't played along in 52 Christmas Card Throwdown for awhile, and I had some time so thought I'd participate in this week's challenge, which is using markers.  Now you know I'm not too good at coloring so don't laugh!!  But here's my submission:

All products (except the spotted background paper), is from Stampin' Up!  I have no clue where I got that background paper!

Hot Air Balloon Birthday

Hi,

With the weather keeping me inside, I've been able to do a lot of stamping this weekend.  Today I'm just posting a fun birthday card.  All products (except the stitched edge rectangle) are from Stampin' Up!  The stitched edge rectangle is from My Favorite Things.

The Essence of Love is Kindness

Taking the stamping world by storm are alcohol based markers, because they blend so well.  I've shied away from them because I can't color -- maybe in kindergarten someone laughed at my "art"work, but whatever.  I just don't color  -- it takes too much time and I've never liked the results.  I've always liked the "solid" stamps because the artwork is done, and you don't need to do any coloring.

Yet, the "line" stamps can be so beautiful, or cute, or a lot of things.  Stampin' Up! is now offering their own line of alcohol based markers, called Blendabilities.  I decided to give them a go with this card, and ventured further with this one:

What do you think?  I guess I'm making progress but still have a ways to go!  Many thanks to

Spanish Prayer

If you've been reading my blog, you know I have a daughter serving a mission for our church.  She's in Mexico, so is learning and speaking Spanish.  I do send her cards but it takes two months to get there, and I am not kidding.  I try not to send bulky cards because that only complicates things!

I found a stamp from Verses stamp company in Spanish that I thought would be perfect for her.  Here's the card I did with it:

The translation is:  When I make a card for you, I put a prayer inside."  Perfect right?!  Everything but the stamp is from Stampin' Up!

You Float My Boat

Happy Valentine's Day!  I've been waiting for today to post this card, as it's the one I made for my husband.  He is a sailor so I thought this would be perfect.  The inside says "Let's Make Some Waves".  The papers and inks are from Stampin' Up!, but the stamp set ("Sailor Girl") and background heart die are from My Favorite Things. 

This is the first time I made a card on my own using alcohol-based markers to get that shaded look.  It's a little hard to see, but there actually is some shading in the blue and hair!  I'll have to keep practicing as I'm clearly not that good at it!

OK, these stamps and coordinating dies from My Favorite Things are the cutest!  The papers and one stamp, #IJUSTLOVEYOU are from Stampin' Up!, but everything else is from My Favorite Things.  I've recently discovered My Favorite Things, and wow!!  They have an amazing product line - I want it all!  Wish I had known about them sooner!

When it's Hard to Find the Right Words

It's hard to know how to comfort someone who has lost a loved one -- everyone's different.  One of the things I do is send a card I've made.  Unfortunately, the past few weeks I've had to send out several of them.  Just posting to give you ideas for when it's hard to find the right words.
